Dear Families,
November 21, 2009
Hey everyone! I hope you had a wonderful week and weekend. I can't believe
that we only have 2 more days of school and then Thanksgiving is on
Thursday. The holidays are upon us and the magical time of Christmas is
here. God has blessed us all in so many ways and I truly feel blessed to be
your child's teacher and a part of your life.
We have had a great week!! The children are loving all the Fall projects
including many Thanksgiving related ones. We made holiday placemats for the
local shelters, drew teepees (we actually saw a live one on Tuesday and
watched some Native Americans dance and play some drums), and we also
painted with Indian corn.
During center time we worked the numbers 6, 7, 8, and 9,
created 8 ants on a log using raisins and peanut butter ...yum..yum, and
placed seven seeds on the number seven.
Our phonic focus was on the letter Gg and had a great time on Friday playing
all the different games friends brought in to share. Thank you so much for
your participation in this activity. Luke even made his own paper airplane
game to see how far each one went!!! It was so neat! I also got a lot of
ideas for Christmas presents for my boys. We are only allowing Santa to
bring 3 gifts each and a few board games for everyone. I hope Connect four
and Zingo are not hard to find.
In the next couple of days we will be finishing up Chapter 5 in math on
numbers 6-10. Over the break have fun playing games such as "I spy" and
hunting for these number sets throughout the house or even outside.
I have given the students a lot of time this week to practice their
handwriting skills. We are talking about words that rhyme, complete
sentences and the spacing between words. Keep a journal at home and have fun
with it!! Most children love to play school...did I say most...well
maybe...some do and if that is the case then enjoy! My two boys, Finn and
Liam, are pretending they have homework some nights and pull out mini-
notebooks to practice writing #'s or letters. It is cute!
Looking forward to celebrating Franky's half birthday on Monday and
the "Thanksgiving Feast" on Tuesday. Some of the students want to be Native
Americans and some want to be a Pilgrim. Please ask them what they are going
to be and have them dress accordingly..Native Americans could wear brown,
and the Pilgrims could wear black and white.
Please check the Preschool "What's next" section to find out the upcoming
events in the next few weeks. If you have any questions or I could help with
anything, please do not hesitate to contact me at home or school.
I hope you and your family have a blessed and Happy Thanksgiving! Enjoy all
the turkey and goodies!
One last thing I am in the process of setting up a picture blog for our class
photos...it should be ready shortly...it will have a lot of pictures from the
past 50 days of school!
Much love,
Stacey
