Dear Families, November 6, 2009
I am really looking forward to Preschool Fun Night tonight....it should be a lot of fun! Kathy Rizzo,
Zach's mom, has worked hard planning this event and we hopes to see you there!
What a nice week....we could not ask for more beautiful weather. I can't believe that November is
already here...the children were so excited on Monday to tell me about their Halloween adventures
and now we are talking about turkeys and Thanksgiving! It will be here in less than 3 weeks. We
have been talking about our families and things we are thankful for and I would love it if you could
send in a family picture next week. We drew our families today and I wanted to put a face to each
drawing!
We will be having the traditional preschool Thanksgiving feast on Tuesday, the 24th. They have
always included my young fives class! Don't worry about sending in ANYTHING for this day...the
teachers take care of it all.
Next week we will be working on the letter Dd and the following week will be the Gg. If can you
help with some of the wish list items for these 2 weeks that would be great, if not that is fine too! I
appreciate all each of you so very much! I am loving teaching your children...they are SO SMART!!
This week was filled with lots of cool learning activities: studying and taking apart seeds and plants
in Science Excitement, making nest out of chocolate chow mein noodles, (cooking is fun for the
children!) I love eating it too...yum! You should have seen their faces...it was priceless!
Our handwriting formation is getting better and better with practice...way to go everyone!! We
practice a lot of writing on the individual wipe boards. This way I can check each child's work
instantly and help them when needed or encourage them to do more!
Please check folders and bookbags each day for some of the activities and work that comes home.
One day this week we didn't have anything in the folder because everything we did was hands-on!
Please keep practicing counting and writing #'s. You would not believe how high your children can
count!
In Kidbuilders this week the children worked on skills such as cooperative movement and Dynamic
balance through pretend play...ie. riding in a taxi, bus, mini-van...etc...they really enjoy this
day...(every Thursday after lunch) Next week, we will continue to move in cooperation with their
friends with the focus on eye-hand coordination and tracking. (using scarves and then with balls)
