Dear families, November 21, 2008
The children have been busy learning about the Pilgrims and Native Americans
this week. We had a program on Thursday with a Pilgrim lady and she showed
us various items that the Pigrims used many many years ago. They enjoyed
this program and hopefully learned a few new things.
We worked on a counting Mayflower book one to five and made "Indian"
headbands and necklaces for the feast next Tuesday. On this day, it might
be fun for the girls to wear their hair in braids if they want to. Not sure
what outfit to wear but something brown? or make a vest at home...just an
idea but not required.
We finished chapter 5 on numbers 6-10 and will begin chapter 6 on shapes and
parts of shapes the week after Thanksgiving. We will be working on the
letter Gg as well. In Phonics, I have working individually with the
children on letters and sound review. I have also been going over #'s 1-50
and recognizing the sight words that have been studied so far. Please
review at home as well. Make it into a fun game for them...not homework!
A new book order went home this week and they are due on December 5.
In book bags today please look for your child's school pictures. They are
adorable!!
Thank you for all you do and thank you for sharing your children with us!
Best,
Miss Stacey
** If anyone has any empty jewelry/earring boxes that they are not using
could you please send them in...thanks so much. I am going to be making a
phonics game with them.
