Reminder:

As we near the end-of-the year there are many activities planned for the students. Field Days, yearbook signing, 5th Grade Celebration, and the 5th Grade Walk.  And, while this may be the case, there are still standards that need to be covered, presentations to make, and final assessments to administer.  Please remind your students that assignments need to be completed and turned in, that their job is to come to school to learn, that rules need to be followed, and that there is a time to socialize and a time not to socialize.

Extended Day Field Trip

We are rapidly approaching our field trip to Amicalola Falls and The Dahlonega Goldmines. Buses are scheduled to leave promptly at 6:45. We need all students at the school by 6:20 chaperones by 6:15. Our plan is to have the bus rosters completed and ready Monday afternoon. Please remind your students to wear appropriate shoes as we will be hiking (no flip flops please). We suggest applying sunscreen prior to arriving Tuesday morning. In reviewing the weather forecast, there is a possibility of showers Tuesday.  Please send a rain jacket or poncho with your child.  There are rain ponchos available at Dollar General for $1.00 should you need to purchase one. If you will have difficulty getting your child to school by 6:25 am, you may want to get with another student’s parent to carpool.

We will be sending messages on our return trip, through Remind, when we are 30 minutes from Nebo. If you have not already signed up to receive messages through Remind, please do so.

DARE-logo.png
What is DARE? DARE is a comprehensive program of instruction, taught by a specially trained officer, that teaches students about the harmful effects of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs that are commonly abused. It also teaches students how to make the best choices through the use of a decision-making model, addresses bullying, positive and negative peer pressure, and goal setting. Deputy Mitchell will be meeting with our fifth grade classes to complete a thirteen week program of instruction on Wednesday each week, beginning January 11, 2017.  One of the requirements to graduate from the DARE program is writing an informational essay about the program.  Students will have two weeks to complete the DARE essay.  Our scheduled DARE time is 9:00 - 9:50.

Congratulations DARE graduates.
