About The Teacher
This is Dr. Riddett-Moore's fifth year teaching at Notre Dame Academy. She holds a Doctor of Philosophy of Art from the University of Georgia, as well as a Bachelors degree in Fine Arts, Studio Art, and a Masters of Art Education from the University of Georgia. She has been teaching for ten years, beginning in Gwinnett County where she taught K-5th grade art for four years, then took a 1 year position teaching at UGA where she taught Studio Techniques for Art Education and Elementary Methods for Art Education. Her art interests include photography and mixed media. She is currently working in fabric arts. Her doctoral research focused on how we develop an arts of living, or how we develop ourselves ethically through the practice of art and how we come to know others empathetically. Dr. Riddett recently recieved the Elliot Eisner Doctoral Research Award in Art Education for 2012 from the National Art Education Association and the Outstanding Dissertation Award from the Arts and Learning Special Interest Group of the American Educational Research Association. She is scheduled to have her first book chapter publication this spring entitled, Arts-Based Research: Data is constructed, Not Found, in Action Research: Plain and Simple, Editor Sheri Klein. Dr. Riddett-Moore is an active member of NAEA (National Art Education Association), GAEA (Georgia Art Educators Association), and AERA (American Educational Research Association). She is the current Independent Schools Representative for GAEA and the co-editor of GAEA's COLLAGE Magazine. She recently was selected as Middle Level Art Educator of the Year for GAEA.
