Peachtree Highlights & Distinctions
2015 – 2016

Peachtree Elementary was recognized by the Georgia Department of Education with a 2016 Georgia Family-Friendly Partnership School Award.

Peachtree's implementation of the nationally recognized Positive Behavior Intervention & Support Framework (PBIS) continues to motivate our students to develop good citizenship skills. Peachtree has been recognized by the Georgia Department of Education as an operational PBIS school for the last 4 years.

Peachtree Elementary completed its 5th year as an authorized Primary Years Programme (PYP) International Baccalaureate (IB) World School in 2015-2016. The PYP experience culminates with the Exhibition, a student driven inquiry event, which allows our fifth graders to demonstrate the skills and attributes they have developed during their time at Peachtree. IB also requires instruction in an additional language and all Peachtree students K-5 receive Spanish instruction from a certified foreign language teacher throughout the year.

24 Peachtree students (K-5) had their artwork displayed at the Peachtree Corners Library Art Show in November, 2016.

Kindergarten Art Exhibition - All 12 kindergarten classes participated in an Art Exhibition in February, 2016. This was in conjunction with their IB unit, How We Express Ourselves. For weeks, students created a variety of art work with the support of their teachers and local artists. The work was displayed in the cafeteria for the main event. The exhibition was open to the school community, families and friends. The event raised $1,742.23, which was donated to Aldersgate Elementary in Culuco, Honduras and a small portion went to Peachtree's International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program.

The Peachtree ES Relay for Life team raised $4281.26 at the silver level in the Gwinnett County RFL program.

Peachtree ES staff and students contributed $5166.22 to United Way.

Approximately 120 Peachtree students have enjoyed participating in a number of special large group music activities sponsored by the music department. These include the Peachtree Panther Chorus which was featured on GCPS TV's Sound of the Seasons holiday program; ninety chorus students who participated in the Atlanta Gladiator's “Sing for Santa” event; forty 5th grade chorus students who had the opportunity to tour the historic Fox Theatre and sing on the same stage as many jazz and big band greats in the Egyptian Ballroom; and four 5th grade students who represented Peachtree at the All Gwinnett County Honor Chorus.
