                               ANNOUNCEMENTS

Progress Reports - Wed., Nov. 11.

Field Trip to the Southern Aggregates Rock Quarry - Wed., Nov. 18.

Parents, once again, Friday folders will be sent home on Monday.
Since it is much easier to get them to you on Mondays, I think it will be
best to just send them home on that day instead of Friday. So from now on,
expect them every Monday.

Morning Drop-off
In order to ensure the safety of all children, please do not drop students
off at school prior to 8:00AM unless they are enrolled in Dolphin Daycare.
Staff members are not required to report until 8:00 AM therefore supervision
is not available for early arriving students. Your assistance and support is
greatly appreciated.

                                 MATH
Most of the students are doing very well learning the multiplication facts
(especially those who practice every night) We have learned the facts for
0 - 10. Now we just need to practice more and work on speed and accuracy. It
is more important than ever to have your child practice each night. They can
spend some time on multiplication.com (15-20 min each night) or they can
write the facts and practice with flash cards. We took a Chapter 8 pretest
today and the students did so well that we are going to move on to
Chapters 9 and 10. We are still working on Multiplication. The Chapter 8
test I had scheduled for Tues. is cancelled. We will test on Chapters 9 and
10 on Thurs., Nov. 19.

                               WRITING
This week students will continue to write narratives.

                               ENGLISH
We are studying the 4 types of sentences: Declarative, Interrogative,
Imperative, and Exclamatory. There will be a quiz on Thurs., Nov. 12.

                          SOCIAL STUDIES

We are working in Unit 3, Our Democratic Heritage. In this unit,
students are learning about how the United States formed a representative
democracy and about the three branches of our local, state, and national
governments. This unit will continue over the next few days. We will be
working in Chapter 8 in the Social Studies book. Students should enjoy
learning many new concepts about our democracy and government. We are now
working on a project in class. Students are making pamphlets about all that
Columbia County has to offer to visitors and residents. We will have a test
on this unit on Tues., Nov. 17.
