Dr. Michele Champion came to Augusta in 2006 when she accepted a position in the Department
of Music at Augusta State University. While at ASU, Michele taught courses in music education
and conducted the ASU Glee Club, but her true passion is working with elementary age children.
She accepted the music specialist position at Riverside Elementary School in April, 2009 and
is extremely excited about this new chapter in her life. She is also the Children's and Middle
School Music Director at Wesley UMC in Evans.
Dr. Champion received her Bachelor of Arts in music and Master of Music from Mississippi
College (1993 and 2003), which is located in her hometown of Clinton, MS and her Doctor of Arts
in music from the University of Mississippi (2006), where she studied the teaching methods
of Zoltan Kodály and Carl Orff.
Besides sharing her love for music with the wonderful students of RES, Michele LOVES college
football, especially her Ole Miss Rebels (Hotty Toddy!); spending time with her beautiful nieces,
Becca and Carrie Ann, and shoe shopping.
