This is my 30th year in education! I am as excited about this year as I was
about my first year of teaching. I have been so fortunate to have taught
kindergarten through twelfth grades, which provides me with a wide range of
experiences and an opportunity to know where our students are headed.
I have created programs for the intellectually challenged in Virginia as well
as facilitating gifted programs for advanced students in Georgia. I have
worked with teachers as a lead teacher, training staff members in many
different areas including: brain research, guided reading, differentiated
instruction, best practices in math, integrating curriculum across the
content areas, and meeting the needs of struggling readers.
As the principal of Rocky Mount, it is my mission to assist every child to
strive for excellence but not perfection. We must never assume children are
not capable of learning more! We must help them reach for their highest
potential. I invite YOU to join me in this quest!
Every day I tell the students: "WORK HARD...MAKE GOOD CHOICES...AND LEARN
SOMETHING NEW EVERY DAY."
This year, our goals are:
1. All students will write at or above grade level in four genres.
3. All students will problem solve in math at or above grade level.
