About Ms. Haun and Mrs. Sherer

                             About Ms. Haun

I was born and raised in rural middle Georgia. I earned Bachelor's and
Master's degrees in education from Georgia College in Milledgeville with some
coursework done at the University of Georgia. I later married and moved to
Chattanooga, Tennessee. My son, Nicholas, was born there in February of
1993. We returned to Georgia in August of 1994. I was a full-time mom until
Nicholas went to Kindergarten.

My first ten years of teaching was in the Macon area. I taught five years of
Title I Math and five years of third grade classroom and gifted. The next
eight years I taught gifted education K-6 in Chattanooga City Schools. The
past seven years I have been in Cobb County Schools teaching EIP in grades
one through five. I am beginning my fifth year at Rocky Mount. I anticipate
a great year returning to classroom teaching in a half-time, second grade
teaching position.

I stay busy with my son going to soccer games, fencing tournaments, band
concerts, and church activities. Nicholas is a freshman at Lassiter this
year. We have a cat named Shimmy and a full-blooded beagle named Perz that
we love and play with. I like to garden, read, and spend time with my family
and friends that are out-of-town.

                            About Mrs. Sherer

I was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan and married my husband Michael,
also a Michigander, in 1970. We left Detroit in 1976 and moved to Miami
Lakes, Florida. Another job transfer and promotion for Michael led us to
Marietta,Ga in 1979. This was also the year my daughter Jessica, was born.

I began teaching in Cobb County after receiving my Bachelor of Science
degree in Early Education (Kindergarten through Fourth Grade) from Kennesaw
College in 1983. Kennesaw State was not a university back then but a very
small and comfortable college with an emphasis on Education majors.

My first school in Cobb County was Bells Ferry Elementary. I spent a total
of 14 wonderful years at Bells Ferry. While at Bells Ferry, I taught First
Grade for 9 years and Second Grade for 5 years. I have wonderful memories of
my collegues and former students and probably wouldn't have left if a part-
time position had been available there.

In 1997, my daughter graduated from Sprayberry High School and was off to
UGA. She ended up returning home and continuing her education at KSU and
is now married and has one son named, Ayden.

Also in 1997,I had reached a place in my life that I really wanted to
teach part-time and explore other interests. I transferred to Rocky Mount
as a part-time teacher in the role of additional support in Reading and
Math across the grades.

This year, I am delighted once again to be back with my own second grade class
(still
part-time but in a job share position) my favorite grade level, teaching my
favorite subject,Language Arts.

I have taken piano lessons, I am an avid swimmer, I take yoga classes, I
read, enjoy my family and friends, travel and spending as much time as
possible with my 9month old grandson, Ayden.
