I am a graduate of Central Michigan University, with a major in Biology and
a minor in Outdoor and Environmental Education. I worked as a Naturalist in
Michigan during my college years, which allowed me to work in the teaching
field with people of all ages. I worked in the field of Fisheries Biology
during my undergraduate coursework, and hope to someday pursue my masters in
Conservation Biology or Ecology. Additionally, I have worked at ZooAtlanta
in the Education Department. I started my career at Roswell in Spring 2007,
and I'm very happy to be working in such a wonderful community. Go Hornets!
In Biology students will gain a better understanding of the living things
and processes that exist around and within them, while developing scientific
literacy and critical thinking skills. Students will explore units covering
the characteristics of science, ecology, cells/molecular biology, genetics,
diversity of organisms, and how organisms change over time. Throughout the
year, students will be engaged in both classroom and laboratory activities
to further enhance their understanding of biological concepts.
In Environmental Science the purpose of the course is to provide the student
with an understanding of how living organisms interact within their
environment and the either harmful or beneficial relationship that exist
between an organism and its habitat. Particularly the subject of
environmental science incorporates human interactions with their associated
environments. It is the goal of environmental science to provide the students
with the tools necessary to build a sustainable society. Environmental
science is a lab based course therefore the students will further their
skills in science through the use of laboratory techniques and scientific
research.
