This is my fourth year as the art teacher at Sarah Smith Elementary. I have
been teaching art for twelve years. This year, I will be teaching primarily
the third, fourth, and fifth grades. I will move to the Intermediate
Campus with those students in January. I have a M.Ed from Lesley University,
a B.S.E.D. in art education from the University of Georgia, and I completed
an intensive one year program in jewelry design at the Fashion Institute of
Technology in NYC.
In addition to teaching, I have owned and operated two art related
businesses, a jewelery company and a fused glass design company. However, my
true passion is teaching children all about art!
My goal is to create a stimulating and challenging environment which
motivates and inspires my students to have a positive experience with art.
Students will be learning many techniques while using a variety of art media.
There will be a focus on the master artists, community art, as well as many
cross-curricular projects with their classroom teachers.
I believe that art is a vital part of a child's education, and I will strive
to touch every subject area through my classes.
