Mrs. Betty Conley is Celebrating 29 years at Sarah Smith. She is a
vivacious, enthusiastic teacher who adores her students. She graduated from Furman
University in Greenville, S.C. She did her graduate work at the University
of Cincinnati in Cincinnati, Ohio.
She is married to an Episcopalian priest and has two sons, Sean and Scott, and four
beautiful grandchildren; Justin, Ansley, Candice, Sean Jr.
She loves reading, watersports, and her husband's motorcycle.
She has sung opera and you may hear a note or two coming from her classroom
if you happen to be passing by on any given day.
If you know Mrs. Conley, you are aware that she loves drama and she mixes a
lot of that drama into her teaching. She brings out the buried drama in her
students. Some of them will do things they never dreamed they were capable
of. Mrs. Conley has very high expectations of her students. She gets amazing results because she
believes in and encourages every boy and girl.
Look for exciting things to happen in her room this year. It is never boring.
To make learning the "Big" priority of our class. That learning will take
many forms but it will be fun. We will respect each other with all of our
differences, knowing that those differences, bring a richness to all that we
do. We will all become good friends and enjoy our last year at Sarah Smith.
For all of this to happen children must feel that they are safe, not only
physically, but safe to share who they are.Ideas and thoughts are always
important and treated with respect. Our classroom is a place where children
want to be. Knowing that following the rules and making our work a high
priority, we contribute to a successful and wonderful experience for all of
our classmates.
