Spelling Words: boy Red Words: their there go no so Every night, your child need to read for at least 10 minute as part of their homework. Written homework will be given Monday-Thursday and is a review of the skills and concepts presented in class. Some of the assignments may need your assistance to complete. However, I would suggest letting your child try to complete the work on his own to encourage independence. At the end, you can review the homework to ensure completeness. Homework is used to reinforce skills, allow you to see what your child is doing in class, and to help make your child responsible for returning the work the next day. I tell the kids there are 3 parts to homework…taking it home, completing it, and returning it the next day. You have to do all three to earn credit! I will not assign grades to this work but I will record that it was completed and turned in on time. Monday and Wednesday: Math Tuesday: SMART phonics, fluency drills/Reading Thursday: Theme Because we work very hard in class, I do not send home a great deal of homework. If you feel your child needs extra work, please encourage him/her to read or write in a journal. You may also purchase a 1st grade workbook at places like Target, Wal-Mart, Staples, etc. for additional support. Thank you for making sure that your child is completing their homework!
