I am so grateful to be a part of the Sarah Smith family! I am originally
from Sandusky, Ohio (home of Cedar Point Amusement Park) and earned a B.S.
in Elementary Education from Bowling Green State University in Bowling
Green, Ohio in 1993. I spent two years at Sts. Peter and Paul Elementary
School as a third grade teacher (where I also went to school until eighth
grade). From there, I took a position as a Title I Teacher for kindergarten
through third grade with Margaretta Schools in Castalia, Ohio. I spent
three years there when my husband decided that he wanted to pursue a career
designing and building custom furniture.
So after considering several options, we decided to move to Bucks County, PA
where my husband apprenticed under a well-known furniture designer for one
year. Since this was a short-term move, I took a position as a preschool
teacher for the year and taught the 2-3 year old class.
From there, we decided to move back home to Ohio. I took a part-time
position as a Core Curriculum (Reading) Tutor for first grade with The
Amherst Schools for one year. The next year, I was hired full-time as a
first grade teacher and thought we were finally settled. No more job
hunting! I was wrong...
While in Bucks County, PA, my husband met an aspiring furniture designer
from Atlanta who, back in September of 2004, needed a hand on a project. My
husband came down to help and has pretty much been here ever since. In
March of 2005 we started considering relocating to Atlanta, and my job hunt
began once again.
So, as you can imagine, I am incredibly grateful to be a part of the
phenomenal staff at Sarah Smith School and hope to be here for quite some
time to come! I am looking forward to working with each of you this year
and helping you and your child in any way.
