November 16, 2009 Dear Parents, This week in Phonics we will be learning the vowel team ee. Please ask your child about the sound ee makes and words that have ee in them. In Language Arts, we will continue to write sentences in our journal and our center work. We will illustrate cause & effect flipbooks, decode ee words and match them to pictures, illustrate an ee SMART story to show comprehension, and read our 2nd Junior Great Books story, The Frog Went A Traveling. In Math, we will write numbers on a number grid, use a shape template, and practice following oral directions, use operation symbols to solve addition/subtraction problems, and play top-it to compare numbers. In Social Studies we will continue our American symbols unit and talk about Thanksgiving as an American holiday. This week we will focus on the White House. Please look in your child’s folder everyday to check their behavior calendar. Please initial the boxes nightly. Please ask your child to practice writing their name in proper case, numbers 0-20, sentences beginning with I like, I am, It is, This is, My friend. Thanks!
