Dear Parents,
This week in Phonics we will be learning the teeth leakers (s & z).
Please ask your child about the sounds s & z make and words that begin with s
& z.
In Language Arts, we will brainstorm and write words that begin with the s &
z sounds, make play dough sight words, play sound bingo to review our words,
work with the –ug word family, write a fall story and review syllables.
In Math, we will begin to identify teen numbers. We will play
several games to name teen numbers, sequence numbers 0-20 and use base 10
blocks to understand teen numbers as 10 + _ more.
In Social Studies and Science and we will look at the day and night
sky. Next week we will begin our second IB unit, It’s About Time. During
this unit we will explore how time organizes our world. We will examine time
as a measure of days, months, years, seasons, trends, etc.
Please ask your child to practice tying their shoes and writing their
first name in proper upper and lower case letters. Please help your child
learn their address, phone number & birthday and also practice writing
numbers 0-15.
Please look in your child’s folder everyday to check their behavior
calendar. Please initial the boxes nightly.
