PLEASE REVIEW AGENDA EACH NIGHT FOR ASSIGNMENTS OR NOTES. SEE IMPORTANT RULE
AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE REGARDING PREPAREDNESS.
Fourth grade Challenge is up and running in our brand new classroom! The
children and I are so excited to be together in our own space with less
people. We have many exciting projects planned for the rest of the year such
as: vision mats, environmental unit, self-selected unit of study, and
Odyssey of the Mind problem solving.
We will continue to support the standards using the Junior Great Books.
Students will participate in Shared Inquiry discussion with a high level of
comprehension expected. They will need to read and study the stories at home
just as in the past.
August - December
Future Problem Solving Program will be used to develop research skills,
writing skills, informational reading comprehension, teamwork, future
thinking, and of course, problem solving. The topic for this year is:
Orphans. We hope to send more Sarah Smith students to competition this year
at the University of Georgia. More details on this program will come at Open
House on August 24th following homeroom orientation.
IMPORTANT RULE:
Students are allowed 2 missed assignments or FREEBIES per nine weeks. The
third event of not being prepared for Challenge will result in recess time
being spent with Ms. Carter and Mr. Firesheets.
