Welcome to Ms. Carter’s 4th Grade Challenge!
Dear Parents,
I am absolutely thrilled to begin another school year at our wonderful
school! The dedication and energy of the families and staff at Sarah Smith
continues to inspire me to be the best teacher I can be for your children.
I am truly looking forward to getting to know your children and facilitating
a year of intellectual and personal growth!
I plan to bring my love of life, travel, and learning to the classroom
through engaging, real world activities. I will value your children’s ideas,
encourage their natural curiosity, expand their vocabulary, and unite them
with the people and places of the world.
"Appropriate instruction for gifted students consists of opportunities for
them to learn at an accelerated pace, work on advanced curriculum and
explore the curriculum in a manner that supports abstract thinking, problem-
solving, use of higher order thinking skills such as synthesis, analysis and
evaluation, critical thinking, and increased complexity though the study of
interdisciplinary units. Opportunities for working with a peer group, open-
ended learning and the independent study of areas of passionate interest
also contribute to effective gifted education."
