Recent Announcements

EXPLORER WAX MUSEUM:  Students have selected an explorer for the 4th grade 
Explorer Wax Museum.  They will complete the research and presentation 
portion of this assignment at school. They will rehearse their lines during 
drama class. Costumes are the only thing that will need to be put together at 
home.  The wax museum will take place Friday, November 20th.  Students should 
bring their costumes to school on that day.

READ-A-THON:  ALL students are required to maintain a reading log during the 
Read-a-thon.  Parents, please initial the log for reading done at home. 

MATH:  Unit 4 Assessment Wednesday, November 11th. Everyday math resource 
links (including a link to the family letters) are located on the LINKS page 
of this website. 

TREASURES FAMILY LETTERS:  Family letters for each of our weekly stories with 
vocabulary and extra activities may be accessed at the Treasures website:

TREASURES READING:  Monday 11/9 - Friday 11/13  "Meet a Bone-ified Explorer"

SOCIAL STUDIES:  Our IB Unit in Social Studies (Location, Location, 
Location) continues this week with a focus on Explorers.  Activities will 
include creating an explorer route map, participating as a character in an 
explorer wax museum, and making explorer trading cards and journals. 


LANGUAGE ARTS:  "Turkey Dressing" stories, Adverbs, Mountain Language 
practice, spelling.   

PORTAPORTAL:  The website PortaPortal.com (GUEST LOGIN: SRS4thGrade) is a 
convenient way to access many current websites being used in our studies.

READING AT HOME:  All students should be reading a MINIMUM of 20 minutes each 
day.  They should be recording the number of pages read when they sign-in 
each morning.  The importance of individual daily reading cannot be stressed 
enough.  

SELF-ASSESSMENT CHECKLIST: Student will complete a short self-assessment 
checklist at the end of each school day.  These weekly "Pink Sheets" will be 
sent home every Monday for the previous week, along with any completed work 
that can be sent home for review.  Parents should sign and return the "Pink 
Sheet" AND the attached work.
