Homework

PLEASE NOTE: HOMEWORK WILL NOT BE RECORDED DAILY ON THIS WEBSITE!

Homework assignments will be recorded in a specific location on the board
each afternoon. It is the responsibility of every student to record his/her
assignments in his/her agenda each afternoon and come to class the following
day with all homework assignments complete.

Although homework is NOT graded, it is used to help determine progress and
to reinforce the lessons taught each day.

Homework is not given for the sake of giving homework. It is estimated that
students should have approximately ten minutes of homework per grade level.
In other words, a fifth-grade student should have about 50 minutes of
homework each night. Students who are not coming to class
organized and prepared may suffer the consequence of having a parent
notified and/or losing recess time.

There will be no homework given on Fridays with exception to reports or
projects which you may choose to work on at home during the weekends.

Studying is considered to be NIGHTLY homework. Each student should learn
study methods that work best for him/her before entering middle school.
Some suggestions include:

* Making your own study guides or using those provided by the teacher
* Rereading a chapter out loud to a friend, sibling, or parent
* Making flash cards for self or partner quizzing
* Rewriting or typing notes from class
* Making an outline of a chapter or reviewing one provided by the teacher
* Teaching a lesson to a friend, sibling, or parent
* Remembering to review topics each night rather than waiting until the
  night before an exam
