Dear Parents,
We have begun our “Clock Face” SMART spelling rules. The students will bring their workbook home
daily. Each week I will assign a page for the week to build fluency skills. . Please have you your child
practice this story orally, on a daily basis to improve fluency by reading aloud to you. Please be sure
to record the time it took to read through the whole passage, number of errors, and date. It will get
better with each try. Remember, practice makes perfect! The dictation sentences given during the
spelling test will be taken from this passage. Please initial daily after each practice, and have your
child bring it back to school each day.

Students are to complete the READING packet daily without parental assistance. I grade the work
but, I do not record the grades in the grade book. I will add 2 points to their final average if all are
completed daily. This is an instrument used to allow me to assist with any weakness under the
umbrella of reading.
