Thank you to everyone who purchased a candy cane gram. The sale was so
successful that the teachers ran out of candy canes. We will receive the
rest of our grams tomorrow morning. The first grade students and teachers
are very thankful.

12/06/11
Tomorrow is the final day to purchase Candy Cane Grams. The grams cost .25
cents each. Please consider participating in this fund raising event. The
first grade students do this every year in hopes of raising a substantial
donation for the Ronald McDonald House. This is their first experience in
the Action portion of IB. If your child attended Sarah Smith when they were
in the first grade, I am sure you remember hoping that all students would buy
the grams so that the experience would make a lasting impact on your child.
Thank you for helping us show our students first-hand how rewarding it is to
give to others in need.

The North Atlanta High School Robotics Team Warbotz is sponsoring a "Science
in Training" night at North Atlanta High on Friday, Dec. 16. If you are
interested in attending, please let me know and I will send you an info
packet.

Dear Parents,

Today was wonderful. The children were all delightful! We spent
some time today and we will spend time each day throughout the week getting
to know each other. In an effort to establish a sense of community I am
sending home a few, All About Me Bags, each day this week. Please help your
child fill the bag with the suggested items to share with the class, and
return the bag the next day. The directions for the activity are on the
bag. Each student will have an opportunity to share their bag sometime
during the week.
The following is a bit of information that will help ensure your child has a
productive day everyday:

1.	Snacks – please send a snack to school daily. Only healthy snacks
will be allowed. Do not send chips, candy or other sugary snacks. Popcorn
must be popped.

2.	Transportation changes – ALL transportation changes must be submitted
in writing. Please return the, Getting Home From School card if you have not
done so already. If you indicate that your child may take more than one type
transportation, please circle or highlight the “usual” type of transportation
your child will take on a daily basis. If that type of transportation
changes, I MUST have the change in writing.

3.	Attendance – The school bell rings at 8:00. Please be sure to have
your child at school no later than 8:00. If students arrive prior to 8:00 I
will have morning work available.

4.	Wednesday Folders – Each Wednesday afternoon I will send home a red
communication folder. All of the school’s correspondence will be placed in
the folder. Please return the folder the next day. If there are other types
of communication that I need to send home other than the Wednesday notes, I
will send the communication folder home on those days as well.

5.	Notes to the teacher – During the next several weeks, I will ask the
students to turn in any notes from home as they enter the class each
morning. I have a basket at the front of the room for the notes. After the
students have been familiarized with the daily routines, I will expect them
to place all notes to me in the basket as they arrive each morning. If you
do send a note to school, please remind your child to give the note to me.

6.	Lunch money-please make sure your child has money in their lunch
account.
