Homework

Homework is important for many reasons. It helps build responsibility,
enables students to practice important skills, makes parents aware of what
we are doing in class, and is often a part of our class review before moving
on to a new skill or taking a test. Homework will be assigned Monday
through Thursday nights and should only take about 20 minutes. It is
important that your child also read for 20 minutes every night. You may
read to or with your child or your child may read to a teddy bear, sister,
brother, etc. There is no end to the fun you can have reading! Homework
will be a portion of your child’s participation grade! It will be graded as
follows:

4 = Neat, complete, and on time!
3 = Incomplete or no more than 1 day late.
2 = 2 days late
1 = 3 or more days late
0 = not attempted

If at any time homework is missing or incomplete, the student will change
his or her color and make up missed work. There will also be a note
regarding the missing or incomplete assignment in the agenda. We will have
projects that students will need to work on at home on occasion. When this
is the case, your child will have a rubric explaining exactly how the
student’s grade will be calculated and what your child will need to do to
exceed or meet expectations.
