Important Dates

ENTRY   FORMS- Due October 2

All entry forms for the Science and Social Science Fair are due to your homeroom teacher by October 2. Please be sure the form is completely filled out and signed by your parents.

Student Study Sessions

All Study Sessions will take place in the Science Lab. Please give your permission slip to Ms. Petrello the Monday before the session you will be attending.

Wednesday, October 7 2:45-3:30 Session 1

Wednesday, October 14 2:45-3:30 Session 2

Wednesday, October 21 2:45-3:30 Session 3

Science Fair Dates

Wednesday, November 11 by 8:15am All projects should be set up in the Auditorium

Thursday, November 12 All projects will be judged

Friday, November 13 All projects will be viewed by the school.

All projects should be taken home by 3: 15pm

Why do we do the Science and Social Science Fair?

The purpose of the fair is to develop confidence, excitement, and curiosity in the area of science. By going through the steps of the Scientific Method, you will be developing research skills that will be used for years to come. The Fair is not about winning a trophy, but it is about developing a project that makes you proud.

Can I work in a group?  

Yes, you can work by yourself or in a groups of 2 or 3. You may work with students from other classes, but not other grade levels unless you have permission from Ms. Petrello.

Who has to do the project?  

All 4th grade students are required to submit a project. This will help build the research skills needed for Exhibition in the 5th grade. Projects are optional for 3rd and 5th grade students. We will select three 4th grade projects, three 5th grade projects, and three 3rd grade projects to move on to the Atlanta Public Schools competition.

Can I do a Social Science Project?

Yes, you can complete a social science or science project. If you are interested in the social science project, please get an information packet from your teacher or Ms. Petrello.

Do I have to bring my experiment to the science fair?

No, you don't have to set up your experiment. If it is small enough to fit in the front of your display board, you may bring the experiment. If it is not, then take pictures and put them on your display board.
