Frequently Asked QuestionsFrequently Asked Questions: This page contains answers to common questions of students and parents.
Yes, everyday. Something healthy, please. Fresh fruit, animal crackres, or veggies and dip are great. Nothing too sugary or salty (cookies, honey buns, potato chips, etc are a no-no). Juice boxes or water bottles only. If not, it may leave mess that takes away from instructional time. We will be "snacking" around 1:00 this year due to our early 11:15 lunch time. If my child is going home a different way, should I tell the teacher? Yes, please write a note, email, or call the front office and let all of us know how your child is getting home that day. Emailing me is an easy option as long as you carbon copy the staff at front office as well. I check email often throughout the day. Sarah Smith Elementary wants to make sure that all bases are covered when getting your child to the proper location that day at dismissal. Should homework be returned the next day? Yes. YOUR CHILD should be responsible for doing their homework and making sure that it is returned to their backpack each day. They are also responsible for turning it in to me the following morning when returning to school. We're make it part of our daily routine. Should backpacks be checked at home daily? YES! Homework, school information/paperwork, and Agendas come home daily. Backpacks can become storage units for paperwork and other things that your child has to drag around. This is burden for them that they shouldn't have to deal with. In 2nd grade, we work on the, "Clean out your backpack nightly" philosophy. When is lunch? Can I eat with my child? Lunch is at 11:15. You may eat with your child any day you'd like. They love company! :) We have "Lunch Bunch" (eating lunch in the classroom) on Fridays for those students whose behavior has earned them this privilege. |
