Your child will most likely have homework Monday through Thursday. Math,
Reading, Spelling, and Language Arts activities will be the norm.
Additionally, reading 20 minutes nightly will also expected. Homework should
not take more than 30-40 minutes to complete each night. 7:30 to 2:30 is a
long academic day for any second grader. Homework should be a great review
and enrichment of our classroom activities.
Please let me know if your child is struggling to complete their assigned
homework within the 30 minute time frame. I can pull them aside for small
group or one-on-one time if they do not comprehend their assigned homework.
The only weekend homework your child may receive is if they do not finish
assignments they did not complete that week. I send home any unfinished
work on Friday afternoons to be returned on Monday morning.
Weekly Spelling rules and the bonus words will be posted on this site as
well. Click on the SMART Spelling icon. Use this site if you should
misplace the words that will be written by your child in their agenda Friday
or Monday afternoon.
Homework assignments should be written by your child each day into their
agenda. I try my best to work with your child throughout the year on their
organizational skills.
I consider "cleaning out the homework folder" as part of your child's
nightly homework assignment. This will keep your child organized and
responsible for their things throughout the week and will ease your
responsibility factor as well.
