How do I purchase a Sarah Smith Agenda for my child? If you did not order a Tool Box of supplies for your child this year, please send in $7 for your child to purchase an Agenda at the school store. Additionally, please refer to the posted supply list to send in the necessary items for class. How do I pay for my child's school lunch? You may send in cash (no checks, please!) to the school and it will be put on your child's Pre-paid Lunch account. You may also make advanced payments to your child's account via Mealpayplus.com. If you have further questions please contact the Sarah Smith office staff at (404)842-3120. What is the Wolfepack policy for birthday celebrations? Birthdays are indeed a very happy occasion! If you would like to provide a treat of some sort to celebrate your child's special day, please send it to school with your child in the morning, OR meet us in the cafeteria at our lunch time. Lunch is from 11:10- 11:40 am, Monday- Friday. If you are so kind as to share a treat with the class, please be thoughtful enough to provide one for everyone (21 students)and keep in mind that we do have a food allergy to ALL TREE NUTS in the classroom. If your child brings home a test, quiz, or assignment that they don't feel they've done their best on, I do allow them the opportunity to earn points back toward their grade if they show sufficient effort in making test/assignment corrections. For each missed answer a student may earn 1/2 credit back toward their total grade. If corrections are submitted they must be neatly rewritten on a separate piece of paper. Each missed problem should be numbered and the question rewritten. The corrected answer must be written out in full (i.e.: if it's a math problem, work must be shown; a writing/grammar assignment, sentences must be rewritten completely and correctly; science/social studies multiple choice answers must be rewritten in a sentence explaining why the correct answer is the right one, based on the info we've learned from the text). Finally, corrections should be stapled to the original test and returned within a week of being sent home, in order for extra credit to be added. How can I find out what my child's grades are? TeacherEase Web-based Gradebook TeacherEase is an online service that allows you to logon and view your child’s current standing grades on projects/ tests and assignments for each academic subject. Use your child’s personal logon info to sign in and see how they are doing. In addition, please be checking your child’s Wednesday folders for graded papers each week. For the most part, any grade that I record on teacherease is something that will also be sent home with your child (unless it’s currently on display or a portfolio piece). On average, assignments will be graded and returned within 2 weeks of its completion. If you are reviewing your child’s work with them as it comes home, not only will you be getting a better feel for their particular strengths and weaknesses on individual skills, but you will be in the loop as per their academic progress and should expect no surprises on their end of the quarter grades. How does my child make up work they have missed? Whether due to illness or an out of town absence, all make up work will be given to a student upon their return to school. The student has the same amount of days to make up their work as they were absent from school. Should your child miss a test or quiz during their absence, please plan on them attending the next consecutive Wednesday tutoring session after school to make up the test. This way they will not be pulled from other classroom activities, specials, or recess to make up their work. Pick up from tutoring is at 3:30pm in the carpool lane. |
