The Puppy Years…
Though born in San Diego, I grew up in Great Falls, VA (just outside D.C.)
with my big brother, Matt, and my little sister, Cassidy. As kids we loved
playing outside and I participated in sports such as softball, dance,
cheerleading, track & field, hiking and snow skiing.
Den Living…
Nowadays, the things that make me smile include: my family and friends;
music of all kinds; a good book; HUGS from my Pups; smiles; jokes; sunshine;
more HUGS from my Pups; my dog Sampson; thunderstorms; lightening bugs; Coca-
Cola Classic; and oh, did I mention…
HUGS from my PUPS!!!
Leader of the Pack…
Before becoming a teacher, I earned my BA in Drama from the University of
Virginia, which led me to live and work in Hollywood for a few years. Next,
I completed my Masters in Education from Marymount University, and started
teaching first and second grade back in Virginia. Finally, I decided to
give Atlanta a try, and I am proud to be moving on to my 4th year here at
Sarah Smith.
With each new school year, my love for teaching grows and my passion for
creating the best possible learning experiences for my students continues. I
believe that happy children learn best and am therefore committed to
providing for my students each and everyday:
1. To create a positive, nurturing classroom environment where students feel
safe to learn, take risks and be themselves.
2. To provide a variety of enriching learning opportunities in
effort to meet each student's individual needs.
3. To aid students in building their academic skills as well as
strenghtening their self confidence and sense of responsibility so that
they may achieve at their greatest potentials.
