Announcements

                October............
                 Wow...IT'S ALMOST CHRISTMAS (SMILE)
The students successfully completed their first "Literacy Club Projects" and
they are absolutely amazing! If you are in our neighborhood, please stop by
and take a look at the very impressive work the students' did! I must say,
those qualities that I spoke about at open house and that we talk about
constantly as a class; organization, prioritizing, INDEPENDENCE and
RESPONSIBILITY become more apparent in my students each day! I am soooo
proud of them!!!

Thanks to all of you who participated in "Muffins for Moms" and "Donuts
for Dads", it was a REALLY BIG HIT! We so enjoy having our parents in our
class, and it is just one way that I hope to express my gratitude for all of
your support thus far...

We recently completed our "Ecosystems Unit" and are getting ready to
embark upon our next "IB unit: Location, Location, Location" a study in
which we will study Native American settlement and Early Exploration! We
also recently began our first Narrative writing in which students will
address a problem within an ecosystem from the perspective of an animal. We
are winding down Unit 3 in Everyday Math! I'm so impressed with the
students' firm grasp of multiplication concepts! (I wonder if "The Candy Bar
Club" has anything to do with that????)
However continue to practice the concepts learned in our previous units
(geometry and add/sub with multiple digits) to keep it "fresh" in their
minds (especially for standardized testing purposes) Please, please, please,
have your students' continue to practice their memorization of the
multiplication facts as well as READ, READ, READ....to strengthen their
comprehension skills (a great resource is the "Georgia CRCT practice book"
in addition to the online resources found on the "links" page of this site.)

DON'T FORGET, LITERACY CLUB PROJECT #2 DUE: November 21st (trust me,
they "should" get easier:-)

Thanks to everyone for their contributions to our class...we are all
soooooo appreciative! I truly appreciate all of your support:-)
