Announcements

Halloween is over and look what is happening!!

The Read-A-Thon starts November 4th.  You will receive information soon.  We 
read as much as we can for two weeks.  Every year I see grow in the children 
with their reading after the Read-A-Thon.  I will read to them at least twice 
a day.  We will have DEAR time on Friday the 6th.  The children bring their 
sleeping bags and we read all day.  DEAR stands for drop everything and read

We will be talking, read, writing and drawing about Thanksgiving, Native 
Americans and Pilgrims this month.  The children will dress up as either an 
Indian or a Pilgrim for the Thanksgiving feast. (November 19 at 11:30) We 
will make the costumes during school.
Please send in a knee-length, white T-shirt to tie-dye by 6th of November for 
the Indian costumes. 
Their father’s undershirts will be great
The feast is informal and is lots of fun.  We hope to see you there!

November will be full of new Math activities.  We will working on telling 
time, counting money, sums to 10, recognizing numbers to 35, ordinal 
position, measuring and counting backward from 15-0.

Our new IB planner is called ‘Symbols of the World” .
The central idea is Symbols represent a country’s culture. We will be 
discussing American symbols and other countries.

We will introduce the letters L and R this week.  Please review 
p,b,t,d,ch,j,k,g, and f,v,s,z,sh, th, m, n, ng, h, w, wh.  We have started 
writing sentences and we ill introduce the COPS acronym.
Capitalization, Organization, Punctuation and Spacing

I am giving you a copy of Set A and B’s dolch words.  Please go over 
Your child can read them, write them or make sentences with them.

 We have a new computer and flat screens.:)  I love teaching your children.  
Their enthusiasm and excitement about learning is great!  My parents have so 
much to do with that.
