Language Arts: McGraw Hill Reading series, Simple Solutions Grammar, Orton Gillingham Spelling Q 1 LA - beginning stories, short stories, comprehension Grammar- nouns, sentences and punctuation Spelling- Orton-Gillingham basics, review of sounds and vowels, blends
Q 2 LA - parts of a letter, comprehension, poetry, short stories Grammar- verbs, commas, contractions Spelling- blends continued, open and closed syllables, multisyllabic decoding
Q 3 LA - poetry, short stories, fairy tales, writing a recipe Grammar - verbs, pronouns, commas Spelling - blends, vowel teams, r controlled vowels
Q 4 LA - chapter books, fairy tales Grammar- adjectives, review punctuation including quotation marks, review of nouns and verbs Spelling- blends, vowel teams, 3 syllable words, r controlled vowels
Math: Everyday Math Q 1 Addition and subtraction practices, calendar, time to hour and half hour, money, beginning word problems
Q 2 2-3 digit addition and subtraction with and without trading, fractions, geometry- 2d and 3d shapes, writing and solving word problems
Q 3 measurement: area, perimeter, capacity; beginning multiplication- arrays, place value to 10,000, addition and subtraction of money amounts, solving word problems
Q 4 basic division, geometry, review calendar, time to quarter hour, money, identifying important information in a word problem
Religion: Faith First Q 1 prayers, Old Testament Bible Stories, Catholic signs and symbols, sacraments
Q 2 Reconciliation, Old testament Bible stories, Catholic signs and symbols, parts of the church
Q 3 Participation in Reconciliation and begin First Holy Communion, New testament
Q 4 participation in First Holy Communion, New testament, parts of and responses in the Mass
Science and Social Studies: will be taught on an alternating cycle in 1-3 weeks increments. Some units will cross over between quarters.
