Ms. Thompson:
I love teaching- I have wanted to be a teacher since 4th grade- with a short foray into sociology. I think that learning is often loud, sometimes messy, and usually fun! I firmly believe parents and teachers must work together to teach the WHOLE child.
I have 2 brothers and 3 sisters. My parents and 2 siblings live in upstate NY, so I only see them at holidays. I have a younger sister who attends Agnes Scott and another at UGA as well as a brother who lives in Snellville. I love reading and making music and have a large musical instrument collection. I love to hike in the fall, and ride my bike in the spring. My favorite kid's books are Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day; Ish ; and The Land of Hungry Armadillos. My favorite color is purple, but I love ANYTHING that is sparkly! I also love dark chocolate and coffee. No meal is complete without them!
Mrs. Tuttle: I have been teaching for 9 years in Dekalb County and Gwinnett County. I love second grade and am so happy to be here. I was born and raised in Florida and attended the University of Florida where I earned a bachelor’s of fine arts in art history. Ten years ago I moved to Atlanta to attend graduate school at Georgia State University where I earned a Master of Education in early childhood. My family lives in Florida, Alabama, and Georgia. My favorite animals are elephants and dragonflies. My favorite color is purple. My favorite food is chocolate. My favorite childrens’ books are Atremis Fowler by Eoin Colfer and Eloise by Kay Thompson. My favorite things to do are reading, walking, and cooking. I was married on June 20, 2009.
SECOND GRADE MISSION
We strive to provide the highest level of education for our students. We want them to leave Second Grade strong, capable readers, writers, mathematicians, and scientists. We also hope to instill a strong faith foundation that will carry these children through school and beyond.
