Peer MediatorsPeer Mediators are now ready to help responsible students solve their getting along problems. Peer Mediators are middle school students who have gone through a Peer Helpers training course with Mrs. Fleming.
This is their Commitment:
I promise:
To behave in a professional manner.
To be fair and honest.
To keep disputant’s information confidential.
To fill out the mediator reports as accurately as possible.
To return to my Encore class immediately after the mediation session, or if no one has signed up.
To make up the work I miss in my Encore class.
To report for my scheduled Mediation times, or get a substitute if I cannot be present at that time.
To be a mediator until the end of the school year.

Mediation is available to students in grades 3-8 on Thursday and Friday afternoons. The sign-up forms are in the table outside Mrs. Collis's office.
Please encourage your children to use the Peer Mediators when they having getting along problems with their friends. The Peer Mediators model that conflict is a normal part of life, and there is a set of skills to be used to solve problems with others. No one is "in trouble" for coming to work with the Peer Mediators. This is a format to help students use their words,Listen to each other, and focus on solving the problem instead of attacking a hurting the feelings of others when there is a misunderstanding.
