ALGEBRA III
Algebra III is a math course for students who have completed Algebra II but are not quite ready for the rigor and difficulty of the precalculus course. The course will be divided up as follows:
1st quarter: review algebra II
2nd quarter: learn new algebra concepts: conics, series, probability
3rd and 4th quarters: trigonometry
This will give the students a great foundation for college math or for taking precalculus here next year. Since there are a number of students in this class this year who are not seniors, those students will be required to do additional algebra worksheets all year to ensure they can handle precalculus next year.
Students may keep their algebra II books to use as a reference material for this year. They will need their graphing calculators and will need to purchase two workbooks through Varsity Books. These workbooks will be listed on their site and both are titled Algebra II. Here are the two workbooks. Ignore the fact that one of them says “grades 5-8”, that is a mistake but the wording cannot be taken off the site. Students must have both of these workbooks on the first day of class. Please order them right away as sometimes Varsity Books runs out right before the start of the school year. A student will have to make their own copies of pages if they do not have these two books at the start of school.

Students were given their summer work packet in May. It is due the first day of class in the fall and will count for 100 points. It will be graded on accuracy. It will not be accepted late! If your son/daughter will not be in class on the first day of school their math packet still needs to be turned in. Please drop it off prior to the first day and put it in my mailbox. Under Algebra III there will be two groupings, one for seniors, and one for 10th & 11th graders. This will reflect the difference in assignment sheets. Students will be required to have both workbooks on the first day of class along with their summer work packet completed and ready to turn in.
I look forward to teaching this class in the fall. If you have any questions, feel free to e-mail me at dcomfort@heritagehawks.org
Thank you.
