I have been in the field of education for approximately 12 years. I
got my first start in education with the Atlanta Public Schools System. I
have served as a paraeducator and a teacher for a number of years. I also
have a degree in Medical Technology where I worked at Grady Hospital as a
Clinical Laboratory Scientist for 2 years.
I came to Gwinnett County Schools six years ago. During that time, I
have served in the following capacities. I have been a paraeducator serving
6th, 7th and 8th graders and a teacher serving 6th, 7th and 8th grade
students. I've taught Language Arts, Social Studies, Math and Science at some
time in my career. I enjoy teaching it all. However, my passion is Math and
Science, particularly 8th grade Math ( Algebra) and Science (Physical
Science).
I treat all of my students with the love, patience and the kindness I
would as if they were all my own. I communicate to each of them that they
leave Trickum having worn the last name Singleton. I always look to the
positive and trust that this year will be even better than the last.
As an educator, my mission for teaching is to provide a learning
environment which is comfortable and exciting for students but also very
challenging. In my classroom, the lessons will be taught with vigor. My
students will be engaged learners with the ultimate goal being to become
independent thinkers and successful learners. My goal is for students to
become intrinsically motivated. Successful teachers meet the needs of their
students by providing successful techniques for them to use while learning.
Every student is unique. Love, patience, and endurance is my formula in
capturing the uniqueness of learning for each student. This formula is my
belief and drives my mission to provide quality engaged instruction for your
child.
