Hi! My name is Mrs. Bayne. This year is my sixth year of teaching first
grade at Vaughan Elementary and my 28th year of teaching. Previously I
taught first grade and also multi-age (K-1) at Compton Elementary and in
Fulton County. Earlier in my teaching career, I taught hearing impaired
students in Charleston, SC and in Fulton County. I received my B.S.
degree in Education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, my
Master's degree from Georgia State University, and my Educational
Specialist's degree in Early Childhood Curriculum from the State University
of West Georgia. I was honored to receive my National Board Certification in
Early Childhood in November 2004.
I was born in Richmond, Virginia, but grew up mostly in North Carolina.
I lived in Shelby and Charlotte, NC, and went to college in Greensboro, NC.
After college I moved to Charleston, SC where I met my husband Tom. We
met at the school where we were both teaching.
After getting married, I moved to the Powder Springs area, where I have
lived for 25 years. I have two sons, Joshua, who is 21 and is a senior at
UGA and Jody, who is 18 and is a freshman at UGA (Go Dawgs!!!). My
husband, Tom, teaches math at Campbell High School. I also have a beautiful
ragdoll cat named Bailey.
My name is Lauren Spears. This year is my second year of teaching
kindergarten at Vaughan Elementary and my 6th year of teaching kindergarten
in Cobb County. I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood
Education from the University of Georgia (2001), my Master's degree in Early
Childhood Education from Kennesaw State University (2004), and my Educational
Specialist's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Piedmont College
(2006).
I was born and raised in Marietta where my family still lives, so I am a
native of Cobb County. I moved to Athens, GA to attend college. During my
college experience, I lived in Italy for a month participating in a study
abroad program. After college I moved back to Marietta to begin my teaching
career.
I am an avid tennis player, which does not necessarily mean I am good! I
have taken up golf this past year, and I am definitely not good at that! I
have a basset hound named Bailey. I enjoy traveling and spending time with
my family.
My name is Kim Skradis. This year is my third year as a paraprofessional at
Vaughan Elementary and my 4th year of working at Vaughan. I attended
Georgia Southern University after graduating from Lakeside High School in
Atlanta.
I was born in Chicago but soon after my family moved to Atlanta. I have been
married to my husband Bryan for 15 years. We have three children. Sean will
be a freshman at Harrison High School. He is an avid football and lacrosse
player. Shelby will be in 8th grade at Durham Middle School. She is a
swimmer. My son Mark will be in 5th grade at Ford. He also plays football
and lacrosse. I have a Wheaton Terrier named Jack.
Most of my time is spent at my kids' sporting events. In my leisure time, I
enjoy walking and going to the YMCA.
