When are progress reports and report cards handed out?

An Academic Alert will be sent home if a student is in danger of receiving
a "C" or lower on the nine week report card. The alert must be
signed and returned. If you do not receive an alert, your child is
earning a B or better in each subject with a Satisfactory behavor. However,
grades can change within the following 4 1/2 week period. Please check your
child's grades to make sure they continue to earn grades to sustain the B
average. A child may earn a C on his/her report card if grades lower in the
second part of the 4 1/2 week period. Each child will receive a progress
report page listing each subject's average (if you do not have internet
access) or a note asking you to check the grades online. Please return the
progress report signed. You can view your child's grades weekly via our
website. All grades will be updated as often as possible, usually weekly.

When do parents sign the agenda?

Parents are responsible for signing the agenda each evening. Your child
should ask you to sign his or her agenda. The agenda is a means of
communication. A checkmark will be placed on your child's Success Record if
the agenda is not signed.

What are check-out and check-in procedures?

Please use the A note to Mrs. Boone as you need them. An absence
excuse is needed when a child is out from school. Students must sign in the
front office if he/she arrives in the classroom at or after 7:50AM. A
student is marked tardy after 7:50.

Please be prepared to show your photo identification if you need to pick
up your student before dismissal. Your child may meet you in the office if
we have a note stating what time he/she will be stayint

When and how can I celebrate my child's birthday at school?

You may bring in cookies, cake, etc. The lunchroom is the very best time
and place to share birthdays. Please notify me one day in advance about the
type of snack you will be providing. I will let you know of any classroom
allergies! The class will honor the birthdays in the classroom as well...even
summer birthdays.

When can my child go to the library?

Students may go to the library before 7:50 AM or when classwork is complete.
We go to the library as a whole class once a week.

Does my child have to read an Accelerated Reader book?

No, but I try to have the students check out at least one. Every child has a
range of AR colors to choose from. The AR tests enable me, as a teacher, as
well as you, as parents, to know how well your child is reading a book.

How will I know how my child is doing academically in school?

Of course, the best way to see how your child is doing in school is to review
his or her homework (after it is completed) and classwork once it is completed
and graded. Graded papers will also be sent home in your child's Thursday
folder. Finally, grades will be posted on our classroom website under each
subject area. Check back weekly to see updated grades. Your child should be
responsible for checking with you.
