How should I send ice cream money?

It is up to you as a parent to decide when you will allow your child to
purchase ice cream. The cost is $1.00. Please try to send exact amount for
your child. Your child will be responsible for keeping up with their own
ice cream money (ex. in their pocket, a zip-loc bag, their lunch box, etc.).

What should I know about my child's participation in P.E.?

Our class has P.E. on Mondays and Wednesdays, although it is a good idea for
your child to wear tennis shoes everyday. Our playground is covered in wood
chips and tennis shoes are the best bet. We will go outside for recess for
15 minutes everyday; weather permitting.

What should I do if the means of transportation changes for my child?

If you child will be picked up differently than their most updated form of
transportaion stated, then a written note will need to be turned into either
me or the office. We require that it is in writing as to eliminate any
confusion that may occur otherwise. It is for the safety of your child.

What do the portfolios consist of?

Every child in our class will have a 3-ring binder that will be used as a
portfolio. It will be broken into sections such as math, monthly writing
journals, art, photos, social studies and science, and narrative writing.
Most projects that are placed on the walls in our classroom or hallway will
be put into it througout the year. Many things will be placed inside of
plastic sheet protectors as to eliminate any damage that could be done to
them over time. It is used as a means of on-going assessment, as well as a
great keepsake of your child's 1st grade school year. (An added bonus....it
can be stored on a bookshelf once school ends).

How do you do snack each day in your class?

Each child is responsible for bringing their own snack to school. I allow
them to eat it at any time of the day, just as long as they keep it at their
desk when we are at reading group or carpet time. They can also bring a
drink to have during the day. The lids of each drink need to stay closed
while the children are not drinking from them.
