Supporting Students and Their Learning!

The counselors at WinnHoltElementary School are here to support teachers and students in their goal to achieve academic success.

Some of the ways we help our students become successful learners are listed below.

Your child can visit the counselor if he or she is concerned about:
•making friends

•adapting to a new school
•classroom behavior

•coping with family changes, such as a new family member, divorce, or death
•completing work
•being bullied •anything that interferes with school success

A student is invited to visit the counselor when:
•he or she puts a note in the counselor’s “mailbox”
•a parent asks the counselor to talk to him or her
•the teacher asks the counselor to meet with the student
•the counselor needs to speak with the student

Your child may be invited to participate in a small group to learn more about:
•family changes •making good choices •being responsible
•study skills •managing strong emotions
•getting along with others

The counselors also visit the classroom to teach lessons on:
•test taking skills •personal body safety
•communication skills •getting along with others
•career awareness •decision-making skills

A parent may contact the counselor about:
•academic concerns •behavioral concerns
•social adjustment concerns •referrals to community agencies
•health concerns •any other concerns

We are very happy to be the counselors here at Holt and look forward to working together for the success of your child.
