The
counselors at WinnHoltElementary
School
are here to support teachers and students in their goal to achieve academic
success.
Some
of the ways we help our students become successful learners are listed below.
Your
child can visit the counselor if he or she is concerned about:
•making
friends
•adapting
to a new school
•classroom behavior
•coping
with family changes, such as a new family member, divorce, or death
•completing work
•being bullied
•anything that interferes with school success
A
student is invited to visit the counselor when:
•he
or she puts a note in the counselor’s “mailbox”
•a parent asks the
counselor to talk to him or her
•the teacher asks
the counselor to meet with the student
•the counselor needs
to speak with the student
Your
child may be invited to participate in a small group to learn more about:
•family
changes •making good choices •being responsible
•study skills
•managing strong emotions
•getting along with
others
The
counselors also visit the classroom to teach lessons on:
•test
taking skills •personal body safety
•communication
skills •getting along with others
•career awareness
•decision-making skills
A
parent may contact the counselor about:
•academic
concerns •behavioral concerns
•social adjustment
concerns •referrals to community agencies
•health concerns
•any other concerns
