This will be my third year at Britt David. I have always taught second
graders, beginning with my student teaching experience at Wynnton School,
under the supervision of the wonderful Mrs. Seckinger. I graduated from
Troy University with a Master's in Elementary Education. I became certified
to teach gifted children in 2008. My resume is attached in the downloadables
portion of the website, if you would like to view my other qualifications.
My first year of teaching occurred at Mathews Elementary School with second
graders. I was the last one hired during that year, so when Midland Academy
was built you know what that means. I became homeless! During the past
seven years, I have taught second graders at Midland Academy. I am very
excited about the new challenge of teaching fourth graders at this wonderful
school.
Now a little about my personal life away from school! I am married
to the best man on the face of the Earth! His name is Gary. We live in
Phenix City, Alabama with our two dogs. Our dogs are the sweetest animals in
the world. We have a yellow lab, "Fletcher"'s Yeller Head and a Pomeranian,
Iluv "Lucy" Head. In September of 2008, we add a new member to our family.
We had a precious little boy, Walker Head. He is the joy of our lives. I
love to participate in outdoor activities, such as, camping, ridinig horses,
crafts and BASEBALL. I have grown with age to love reading. It is a great
release of stress for me these days! My husband and I are members of Golden
Acres Baptist Church. Some of my role models are Laura Bush, Reba McEntire,
Mark Richt (love the coach but WAR EAGLE) and my mother. I love what they
stand for in their everyday life. That is a little about me and what and who
I love in my life.
"If you always do what you've always done, you will always be where you've
always been."
I love this quote, and I want to center my class around this belief. If we
dare to explore and take risks, we will become learners with a purpose. I
believe in challenging each child on their own academic level, so each one
will experience mastery no matter where they are in life.
