About The Teacher
Hi! It’s Mrs. Parkerson. I am so excited that you are going to be in my class. We are going to have a great year that is full of great adventure, lots of learning, and tons of fun. I am so excited to see what all is in store for us. I want to know all about each and every one of you, but I am first going to tell you a few things about me! I was raised in Phenix City, Alabama and I am the oldest of three children. I have a younger sister, Destin and a younger brother, Corbin. My sister has two little girls, Hazel (2) and Mae (5 months). My brother plays the guitar and is pursuing a career as a singer/songwriter. He has songs on iTunes and Amazon that can be downloaded. I love my family and we are all very close. When I graduated from Central High School, I attended Chattahoochee Valley Community College on a Cheerleading Scholarship. After one year there, I transferred to Auburn University where I completed my sophomore and junior years. WAR EAGLE! While home for break, I met my husband of 11 years on a blind date and never returned to Auburn. I finished my degree, after marrying Michael, at Troy University. I then received my Master’s Degree from Walden University and am currently working on my Doctorate. Michael and I have two children. Reese will be in Mrs. Hoskins class and is 9 years old. Brooks will be in Mrs. DuBuois’ Class and is 8 years old. We have 3 dogs (Tilly, Mags, and Sadie). My husband works for UPS (he drives the “Big Brown Truck”). This will be my 8th year of teaching. I spent 3 years in 2nd grade here at Britt David and was moved to 4th grade 4 school years ago. I am also a vendor at Front Porch of the South. I am quite the busy bee! I am a lover of the beach and love to get lost in a good book. I enjoy frequenting thrift stores and flea markets in search of special treasures. I enjoy watching American Idol and The Voice. My shopping places of choice are Target and TJMaxx. I would wear flip flops 365 days a year if it was in my dress code although I do love putting on my cowboy boots to attend a country music concert. Dressing in Orange and blue are also a favorite of mine. Saturday in Auburn on a game day is absolutely AMAZING! My favorite drinks of choice are Diet Dr. Pepper and Coke Zero. I love anything spicy or sour. Chocolate covered almonds and cookie cake (with lots of icing) are my weaknesses! I believe I am addicted to Pinterest and l love trying out new recipes and searching for cute ideas for my home and classroom. I am a true lover of life and love to spend time with family and friends. I enjoy the simplicity of spending a day on the couch watching movies in my pajama pants just as much as I love getting dressed up for a date night. I know the words to every song that is played on Disney Channel or Disney Radio on XM. I am the most proud when I watch my children do well. Brooks is an amazing baseball player and Reese does well in gymnastics and tennis. My kids keep me busy, but they make life worth living. Mrs. Parkerson
Mission Label:
Mission
My overall mission for this class is for each and every student to associate success with every aspect of the curriculum. I will strive to be consistent and to keep it creative and new. I want each child to leave this class with confidence in themselves. My goal is for each student to truly love knowledge and to become lifelong learners. By creating a safe, welcoming environment and offering authentic and engaging lessons, students are placed in a situation that is conducive to learning and success. We have a blast in my classroom and I can promise that they will always leave with a smile and come home with a story about that crazy Mrs. Parkerson. :)
