It is so amazing how fast this year is going. We had a great time on our walking field trip to Home Depot and the Dollar Tree. Thanks so much to Zachary's dad, Jason Dennis; Mia's mom, Heather Harrell; Berkley Blanchard and her mom, Cal's mom and grandmother; Valeria Marto, Jonathan's mom and Chris Lovelock, Christina's dad, who also transported our tree back to the school. It was nice to let the kids in on helping others by donating a book to other children. Thanks for your continued support.
This month in math we will be working on telling time to the hour and half hour, weight and capacity. Please review coin recognition with your child. They need to be able to recognize and tell how much a dime and a penny is worth. This is a hard concept for kindergartners. Our focus for Social Studies will be Christmas celebrations around the world and map skills. They need to know their continent. I am very pleased at how well the children are doing. I appreciate all the work you do at home with reading. This is so important. Continue to work with them on blends, (bl, st, br, pr, etc...). At this point in time, the children should be reading to you each night, with assistance, of course. It's hard to believe we are almost half way finished with the school year. As we near that point, our expectations will increase. Beginning in January, the students will be moved to yellow if they are not prepared for school. Please help us, by making sure your child has his/her: homework and folder each day, little book/ orange bag on Fridays and their AR book/AR folder on Thursdays. Thank you in advance for your assistance with this matter. Thanks so much to Vicki Beard, Turner's grandmother and Eleanore Townsend, Aiden's mom for coming in each week to help with journals. The children are becoming great writers.
Many parents have asked about the ILS lab. Yes, you can bring your child in for extra computer practice any day, except Friday's from 3:05-3:45. It's always good to see how they are progressing. Our Christmas Party will be this Friday at 1:45. I hope that all of you have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!
