Dear Parents,
I hope everyone is enjoying this nice fall weather! It will definitely make our playground time more enjoyable. I cannot believe that October has almost passed us by. We have a lot going on these last two weeks.
The students are now doing their own journal writing. Many thanks to Karolyn's mom, Ray's mom, Meghan's mom, Sam K."s mom and grandmom, and Jadyn's mom who come to help with this so I can have reading groups going on during this time. Writing is also a great home activity to work on. Make sure they are "stretching" the word out to get every sound. Sight words should be spelled correctly.
Please get your raffle ticket money turned in ASAP!! The drawing will be held Thursday at the Fall Festival (5:00 pm). Thank you to everyone who worked so hard in selling the tickets. The fall festival will be this Thursday from 3:30-6:00. The wristbands for the children are $6.00 up until noon on Thursday. If you wait to purchase it later the price will be $8.00. If you send in the money to us, make sure it is in an envelope labeled wristband money so we will know. Children will be dismissed at the normal time this day.
We have started working on fractions, numbers 11-20, and counting by our 2s,5s, and 10s in maht. We are also working on consonant blends such as st, fl, tr, etc. These are great skills to practice at home.
The children are allowed to wear costumes on Friday, Oct. 30th. The cost is $2.00 which goes to our student council to help with the service projects that they support. Please make sure the costume is comfortable for your child to be in all day (no masks or scary costume). We still have a normal day of school.
Thanks to everyone for all your support! Looking forward to seeing you at the fall festival Thursday afternoon.
Children first,
Mrs. Donna Shelton
