Week of December 7th



Dear Parents,

We enjoyed our trip to the Cobb Civic Center to see "The Nut Cracker."  It was a great way to start the holiday season!

Opportunities to Share

The East Side Student Council is conducting a food drive during this holiday season. Please help fill the MUST Ministries barrels at school with nonperishable items. Your support will make a big difference to many families in Cobb County.

The Community Outreach Committee continues its toy drive for our sister school, Fair Oaks, through next week. Help make the holidays a little brighter for the wonderful students at Fair Oaks by donating a new toy, game or book.

 
LAST WEEK: 
We learned about Goods and Services.  
In math, we continued learning about shapes and their vertices.  In reading, we learned about personification, alliteration, and puns.
We finished our realistic short stories in Writing Workshop.  

THIS WEEK:
Reader's Workshop- identifying text features

Writer's Workshop- punctuation review and holiday stories

Words Their Way- long and short a and ay 

Math- Geometric figures and time to the five minutes

The kids are earning punches on a ticket to gain admission to The Polar Express movie on Dec. 18th.  They get one punch in their ticket each day they follow the rules and demonstrate appropriate behavior. They must earn 8 punches on their ticket in order to gain admission to the movie.
