Dear Parents,
Only four days until holiday break and so much to do. . . . The students got a checklist of all that we are trying to get in before break. Below is a summary:
Reading: Their last reading notebook of the quarter is due. This will be done in class.
Social Studies: Their coloring book project is due on Thursday. We worked on it for an hour in class today but most of the rest of it will have to be done at home. There will also be an economics quiz on Thursday.
Science: The adopt an element project is due on Wed. This will be done in class.
Language: Their Ellis Island Essay is due tomorrow. It needs to be completed at home tonight.
Math: There is fraction test on Tuesday.
This is a lot of work but we are hoping to get the bulk of it done in class. Your child should be completing one or two coloring book pages a night along with the rest of their homework. On the positive there will be no homework over break although I do encourage you to have your child read.
Along with work there will be some "play" this week. The holiday party is Wednesday afternoon. There will be a brunch on Thursday with our writing buddies and that afternoon we will introduce outside activity to our book buddies.
Thank you for keeping your child grounded and focused this week as we finish up our work. When we come back it will be a new year well rested with many brand new concepts to learn.
Respectfully,
Kim Clark
