Although we attempt to ensure that all parents are informed about the
various aspects of our program, some of you may be unaware of what we do
each day. It is our hope that parents and students will understand our role
and consider us a valuable resource throughout a child's education at East
Side.
Every class has classroom guidance every other week. Students learn about
various topics under the three main domains (personal/social, career and
academic) set by the ASCA model. Lessons cover such topics as
drug prevention, bullying, personal safety, friendship skills, conflict
resolution, decision making, problem solving, study skills, career education
and recognizing personal strengths.
Each topic is tailored to meet the developmental needs of the students
at each grade level.
