Although we attempt to ensure that all parents are informed about the various aspects of our program, some of you may be unaware of what we do each day. It is our hope that parents and students will understand our role and consider us a valuable resource throughout a child's education at East Side. Every class has classroom guidance every other week. Students learn about various topics under the three main strands set by the Georgia Department of Education including self-knowledge, educational and occupational exploration, and career planning. Lessons cover such issues as career education, drug prevention, bullying, personal safety, friendship skills, conflict resolution, decision making, problem solving, study skills, and recognizing personal strengths. Each topic is tailored to meet the developmental needs of the students in each grade.
