Dear Parents,
Hope everyone is having a good week. We are working hard in 3rd grade! We began our study of Susan B. Anthony today, after her wonderful "real life" visit last week! We will work on our "in class" projects over the next few days, and the first part of the week after Thanksgiving Break. Our projects will be presented on Friday, December 4th. Therefore, please encourage your children to locate any resources they may need from home in order to present on the 4th. They will write you a "Letter Home" on Thursday and let you know their plan for their project. I am encouraging them to pick a different way to share than the one they used for Paul Revere.
For the remainder of the 9 week period we will cover the following:
Language Arts - identifying main characters and setting, identifying character's relationship to the plot, and understanding the relationships between characters
Writing - summarizing information/responding to literature
Math - multiplication, division, and geometry
Science - Habitats & Organisms
Social Studies - Economics, Frederick Douglas, and Susan B. Anthony
If you would please...send a note, or just write a response in the planner, indicating how you wish your child to go home in the case of school closing early. (prior to harsh weather approaching - we are in need of a master list indicating how each child should be transported) A letter did go out at he beginning of the year about this - I would just feel better if we verified what you would like your child to do in the case of inclement weather or emergency dismissal. The bus is the most effective plan. If your child will be getting off at a friend's stop, just indicate the name of the friend. If the child will be picked up in carpool, please indicate who will pick up your child. ASP wouldn't be an option in this event.
Lastly, I can not let your children leave for Thanksgiving Break without letting you know how THANKFUL I am for them, and you! I think we are in the best school around and I think we have the best class you could ever ask for! I hope all of you have a wonderful holiday and I will look forward to seeing each and every smiling face back here on November 30th.
Happy Thanksgiving,
Leslie Jones
