How does AR work in your classroom?
I will begin AR in my classroom in the Fall. This will give me time to observe the students in class to find the appropriate AR level. When they begin, the students will be required to complete 3 AR tests every nine weeks on their assigned level. They may certainly do more, however the enjoyment of reading is the main focus in my classroom. Once they recieve 2- 3 100% in a row, they may move up. Usually, they move up 1-2 levels or more depending on what I observe of their reading and comprehension in class.Back to Top
How do I keep up with my child's behavior in class?
Behavior sheets will be sent home every Thursday and will need to be signed and returned on Friday. This is part of your child's responsibility to have completed and returned to school the next day. Your child may need to pull a pin if it is not returned/signed.Back to Top
What should I do if my child forgets to bring in homework?
Please leave it at home. Unless not turning in homework becomes an issue, forgetting it once or twice will not be a problem. The consequences are minor and will help your child in developing his/her personal responsibility.Back to Top
How do I know if my child is reading a book that is too hard?
Use the 5-Finger Method- Have your child read the first page of the book. If he/she misses five words or more, then the book is probably too hard and he/she might spend too much time trying to figure out the words and will have a difficult time with comprehension.Back to Top
