About The Teacher Label:
About The Teacher
Hi! My name is Shana La Vine. I grew up in Marietta, attending Mt. Bethel, Dickerson, and I graduated from Walton in 1996. I then went to Georgia Southern University where I graduated in May of 2001 with my Bachelor's in Early Childhood Education. In December 2005, I earned my Master's degree from Kennesaw State University, also in Early Childhood Education. (This was an amazing learning experience that I was happy to share with several other teachers from East Side.) I am currently enrolled in an Ed.S. program in Educational Technology from Lesley University. So far this, too, has proved to be a worthwhile decision. It's hard for me to imagine, but the 2011-2012 school year is my eleventh year of teaching at East Side Elementary. It's incredible how time really does fly when you're having fun! My first class of students are Seniors in high school this year- WOW!!! I taught second grade for five years, and five years ago, I had the wonderful opportunity to loop up to third grade with my class. That was a great decision. So, this year is my sixth year teaching third grade and I am very excited. Third graders have such amazing things happening in their heads while they are going through the huge transition from second grade to third grade. I feel very fortunate to be in a career where I have so much enthusiasm for what I do and for the young people with whom I work. I truly appreciate and admire how their young minds work and I am very grateful to have these young people as my "co-workers." I feel that I learn as much from the students as they do from me, and in turn, they learn from each other. What wonderful symbiotic relationships! -Miss La Vine :) "All children CAN learn and succeed, but not on the same DAY, or in the same WAY." -Unknown "All things are difficult before they are easy." -John Norley
